MathfanatixAs young leaders on a quest to effect positive change in their communities, JCI Barbados has sought to determine how to reverse the negative trend seen in the performances of students in Mathematics at the Common Entrance Examinations within the last decade, through the introduction of Mathfanatix!
Mathematics is one of the core essentials needed by students to guarantee academic success and progression throughout one’s life and career. Additionally, JCI Barbados believes that a nation which has a solid foundation in Mathematics is more likely to be successful in being competitive in this global technological age. Mathfanatix will be the catalyst for this change! |

Mathfanatix will focus strictly on Mathematics at the Common Entrance Level to ensure the children understand the content they are learning during the school year. Class 3 and 4 students will be the target audience. The objectives the project are:

Mathfanatix will focus strictly on Mathematics at the Common Entrance Level to ensure the children understand the content they are learning during the school year. Class 3 and 4 students will be the target audience. The objectives the project are:
- To create positive attitudes towards Mathematics from the Primary School level, and onto the Secondary School level.
- To improve the student’s Mathematical and literacy skills, thereby raising their level of performance in the Common Entrance Examination.
- To cultivate an alternative learning environment, free from distractions, that complements the curriculum of the Ministry of Education, Technological and Vocational Training.
Additional Details
- Sessions will be physical from 10 am to 12 pm at various locations.
- Volunteer tutors will be paired with a maximum of three students to ensure individualised attention.
- Motivational and literary components are also included to promote positive attitudes and confidence as well as assist in comprehension of worded problems.

The Mathfanatix team of tutors will bring a kaleidoscope of skills, knowledge, fun personalities and creativity to the programme. Some decked with qualifications in Mathematics to the tertiary level, experience in teaching, love for children and even natural hands on experience.
