JCI Barbados' Public Speaking Competition - August 28, 2014
On August 28th, 2014, JCI Barbados (Junior Chamber International Barbados) challenged you to Express Yourself for the 2014 Public Speaking Competition.
After three stunning presentations, the title of 2014 JCI Barbados Champion of Public Speaking was awarded to Ms. Gabrielle Gibson. Ms Gibson is now set to face off against the winners of the public speaking competitions within the other Jci West Indies local organizations to determine who will be the 2014 JCI West Indies Champion of Public Speaking.

A truly spectacular hike and one heck of a workout! - August 23, 2014
Now if you’ve done hikes with JCI Barbados before then you know sometimes we like it challenging, well this was one was a little easier, even if the rain made it a little slippery. If you are looking for guardrails and warning signs, this hike was not for you.
The scrambles, hills and crevices were epic to say the least and everywhere you looked the views were spectacular. Overall, this was an UNFORGETTABLE hike and by far the one of the best ones with JCI Barbados so far.

When the pigs are finished cooking, the meat just falls off the bone. New Jaycees, Long Time Jaycees, Newish Jaycees, even Friends of Jaycees all welcome! While it is true that some individuals are definitely born with this gift, the overwhelming majority of effective speakers have trained themselves to be so. Either they have received formal media training or they have delivered so many speeches that over time they’ve learned what works for them.
To master the art of public speaking learners need to eliminate discomfort and boost confidence, and understand the key elements of opening, message delivery, closing, and question and answer. Come learn the essentials at our active training seminar from our excellent facilitator, JCI Erica Marshall, as she starts with the basics and move quickly into actually delivering talks - you will be on your feet and presenting like a professional in no
time at all in a no-pressure atmosphere!

JCI Barbados greatly appreciated the opportunity to interact with International Vice President Jennifer Gracey....not only was she a blast to be around but she is also a highly qualified and effective trainer who deeply impacted our members and deeply inspired our potential members. With her eloquent and succinct interviews she brought to life the global community of JCI and the attractiveness of the Ten Outstanding Young Persons Awards for the public of Barbados through interviews on Hott 95.3, 98.1 The One, Love 104.1FM, Mornin' Barbados, Barbados Today, The Barbados Advocate and The Nation Newspaper.

JCI Impact Training
During this highly interactive session with the International Vice President Jennifer Gracey, we explored how to become active citizens and how to make long lasting positive changes within our community. We discussed the active citizenship concept, cover the analysis of community needs, the establishment of the real cause of problems and the projects we could conduct with other partners to create sustainable solutions.

JCI Achieve Training
JCI Achieve was an exciting session that equipped members to be more passionate about JCI and to have the necessary skills to BE BETTER. We were able to understand the purpose of JCI by looking at their own values and comparing these to the values and principles of JCI. Additionally, the question of JCI Barbados’s identity, its purpose and what it could do to accomplish JCI’s Mission was raised and provided ample food for thought.
Through the adoption and use of recognizable and appreciated activities, and understanding the existing demographic groups and their characteristics JCI Barbados will be able to build an attractive organization that will bring in new members who are looking for the development opportunities and want to create positive change as active citizens.
